How to grow a backbone?

Okay so my group of friends is very large and there is this one girl called *patricia* and she is funny and we used to be close but we've grown apart and now everyone in the group wants to be her friend and leave me but theres one problem *patricia* is mean and always bashes people on their looks and im very very nice to everyone and i want to know how to grow a "backbone" because i think the problem is im too nice.... plz help its urgent
