Were these Mexicans laughing at me or with me?

I am kinda dating this Mexican chick and I guess her friends and family throw a party any chance they get. So I was at one and they were frying Jalapeno peppers in olive oil and they putting lemon juice and salt on them. I normally love Jalapenos so I took one and the one guy was like you sure you want that? And I was like yea and I shoved the whole thing in my mouth. Now being the idiot that I am I forgot that the Jalapenos I'm used to are cut up and have very little seeds. After like 30 seconds I thought I was going to die. I tried to play it cool but I could feel my eyes starting to water and my face turning red. Then they watched and laughed their a** off as I chugged beer after beer trying to stop the burning in my mouth, throat, and stomach. I dont think I have ever seen people laugh as hard as they did. Then I also almost threw up to for some reason. Finally after like 20 min when my embarrment was over the one guy clapped me on the back laughing and goes your ok man your ok.
