Have a problem with termites, but I don't know how to approach my cheap landlord about eco-friendly solutions!?

Recently, I've been finding discarded wings and winged termites flying about my apartment and I don't know how to handle the situation. On the one hand, the little buggers are annoying and may have (probably already have) created some sort of infestation in the walls, on the other hand, I don't support the use of dangerous pesticides and am worried about my own health if the place is fumigated. There's a million places they colonize could since there's a lottttt of cracks in the molding, this building is really old, and the landlord is reaaaaally cheap. Anyone know of anything that could be as cost effective as regular fumigating but that I don't have to have health concerns over?
